Why I Chose To Come To Animas High School:
I chose to come to Animas High School for many different reasons. One of them being that I am a visual and bodily learner and we do a lot of hands on learning and projects here at Animas because it is a charter school and a project based learning school. For most of my elementary and middle school education, I have been at Montessori schools and other charter schools so coming Animas was an easy decision because all of my experience in these schools. I also like that there aren't as many students in the school as there are at other public schools because you get to know more people in different grades and different classes. This makes the school’s culture and environment really unique. The teachers are very friendly open to work with you to make your experience at Animas the best that you can be and to help you achieve your academic goals during high school, which just adds to the culture and environment. You also get to know a lot of the different students in other grades and classes which I think expands your learning and helps make your experience better. I wanted to come to Animas to get away from all of the bullying and name calling and even though I knew that these things weren't going to become obsolete, I knew that there was definitely going to be different. The students and faculty at Animas really enforce the discipline which is a nice change from some of the other public schools. I chose to come to Animas High School because I wanted my high school experience to be different than the average high school students experience.
What It Means To Be An Osprey:
To me, what it means to be an Osprey is to take pride in your work and to be proud of the work that you do. I think that when you become an Osprey at Animas High School, you starts to realize that all the work that you do does matter and it is important and knowing that makes you feel good about the work that you have done. Even if it is just a rough draft, you still take pride in your work. I also think that being an Osprey means that you are finding who you want to be as a person because of all the identity projects and self exploration that we do here. You find out how you want to dress, be friends with, act and what you want to do. I think that being an Osprey means that you can be the person that you want to be in life, and that your dreams and goals are possible. That they are achievable if you try.
